What we commit to
What we do
You write a letter and name the person it should reach. We store it in encrypted form and undertake to deliver it to that person when our delivery trigger fires, as described in how it works.
What we do not claim
We do not claim to be able to detect the rapture, and nothing on this site should be read as saying otherwise. Nothing in our system detects anything. Delivery is started by hand, by one of a named group of administrators who has decided that the day has come, and requires two separate actions a day apart. That is a human judgment and it carries the failures of one: it may be made in error, and it may never be made at all, in which case your letter is never delivered and no one is notified.
Longevity
You are paying once for something we may hold for a very long time. We designed the business to last: you pay once for a letter and never a subscription to keep it, there are no outside investors with exit timelines, and as few moving parts as possible. Your letter stays here for as long as it takes.
All sales final
All payments are final. There are no refunds. You are paying for us to hold and deliver your letter, and that commitment begins at purchase. You can delete a letter at any time, but deleting it does not return the payment.
If you are unsure whether you want to say a thing yet, leave it as a draft — drafts cost nothing and can be edited or deleted freely. Once you seal it, the words are fixed, and so is the person it is for. You can keep their email or postal address current for as long as we hold the letter, and you can delete the letter at any time, but you cannot redirect a sealed letter to someone else.
Subscriptions
A subscription is optional and separate from a letter. It is never required to keep a letter or to have one delivered: every letter is paid for once and held for as long as it takes, whether you subscribe or not. While a subscription is active it takes 20% off every letter pack you buy, along with the other things listed on the subscribe page.
Plans are $1.99 a month or $19.99 a year. Both renew automatically at the same price at the start of each new period, charged to the payment method you gave us, and they keep renewing until you cancel.
You can cancel at any time from your account page. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the subscription stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for, and that period is not refunded. Letters already in your account — bought outright or granted when you subscribed — stay yours forever. Cancelling never touches a letter you already hold.
Physical letters
Physical letters are printed and mailed by us when the time comes. Postage costs may rise between now and whenever your letter is sent. We will not decline to send your letter for want of a stamp. Because a postal address can go stale over decades, once a year we will ask you to confirm that the address on a printed letter is still right; keeping it current is the one thing we need from you.
What we can read
We can read your letter. See privacy for what that means and what we do about it.
Limitation of liability
If we fail to deliver a letter because of our own error, and you or your estate can show it, our liability is limited to the amount you paid for that letter. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from a letter that does not arrive.
Age requirement
You must be at least 18 years old to use this service.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Delaware.
