Social Media Buzz vs Biblical Truth

The Current Buzz

You may have seen it on social media. A predicted date for the rapture has been circulating online, with some believers making plans and preparations for an event they believe will occur on September 23 or 24. This is not a new trend, but it has picked up steam in recent years with the rise of TikTok and other social media platforms.

A Familiar Story

This is not the first time a specific date has been predicted for the rapture. In the past, believers have been excited and anxious about specific dates only to be disappointed. The bible warns us about this in Matthew 24:36, where Jesus says, "But about that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels of heaven nor the Son, but only the Father."

What the Bible Says

The bible is clear that we should be ready for the return of Christ at all times. In 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, we read, "For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and on earth will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air."

The Problem with Date-Setting

Setting a specific date for the rapture can be problematic. It can lead to a sense of false security or complacency among believers who do not share the same view. It can also cause confusion and division among believers. As the bible says in 2 Peter 3:10, "But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements, being burned up, will be dissolved and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed."

What You Can Do

So what can you do instead of getting caught up in the latest online trend? You can focus on being spiritually prepared for the return of Christ at all times. You can also write letters to your loved ones, explaining what you believe and why, and leaving a legacy of love and hope. Write to the people you love — before the moment when you cannot.
